Men On the Rise Educational Scholarship

This scholarship is for young men who either reside in Vance or Granville County or is a participant in our signature programs, who will attend an HBCU (Historically Black College or University) in the Fall. One recipient will be chosen from each county for this award is in the amount of $1,000.00.  



Sorority Scholarship

This scholarship is for young ladies who either reside in Vance or Granville County or any participant in our signature programs, who will attend a College or University in the Fall. One recipient will be chosen from each county for this award in the amount of $1,000.00.  



Carolyn Smith Green Scholarship

This scholarship is named in memory of Mrs. Carolyn Smith Green.  Mrs. Green was a native of New Bern, NC.  Upon her marriage to Dr. James P. Green she relocated to Henderson, NC. Mrs. Green was the granddaughter of James E. Shepard, the founder of North Carolina Central University (NCCU) located in Durham, NC.

In 1951, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce from NCCU. She was initiated as a member of the Alpha Chi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She later became a charter member of the Nu Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, serving as the 3rd President of the Chapter.  She also served in various other capacities in the Chapter.  She was a person who provided service to mankind.

This $1,000.00 scholarship will be awarded to an African American student residing in Vance or Granville County who will be attending NCCU.  The student must have a 3.0 grade point average with a major in Business.
